Designed as an introductory course, this training provides foundational knowledge about dementia. It explores types of dementia, typical presentations, signs and symptoms, and cognitive assessments. Content is grounded in insights from the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre at the University of Tasmania, a leader in dementia research.
This course is designed for training coordinators and caregivers, especially those in care homes, who want to enhance the well-being of elderly residents through purposeful activity. Participants will gain insight into how regular movement and strength-based activities can positively impact cognitive health, bone density, and overall vitality in aging adults.
